School Committees' Display or farm produce and home industries — West End District 1, Newbury District 2, Kairanga District 3; four enSchool group exhibits (display of school work, including field and garden produce)—Palmerston North Group 1, Cheltenham 2, Colyton 3. In the former class many people expressed the opinion that Kairanga should have been placed before Newbury. The judges pointed out that the exhibits awarded first prize reflected great credit on the exhibitors, the subjects being not only admirably staged but of great variety and excellence. "While the third prize in the section commented on showed to more advantage from a spectacular point of view, there was too much space given to home industries, whereas the second prize-winner, while not so attractive in looks, showed more the resources of the district. All exhibits bore testimony to the good work performed by • those interested and were of exceptionally high educational value. HOME INDUSTRIES.
