Per Press Association, Foxtou, June 33 A meeting of the Borough Council and Chamber of Commerce last night decided to urge upon Government the linking up of the Slain Trunk line between Martou or Greatford and Levin to relieve the congested traffic at Palmerston and obviate the huge expenditure on Palmerston deviation. It was pointed out that the linking up would shorten the journey between Auckland and Wellington by over an hour, and the saving in haulage alone would pay interest on construction, It was decided to hold a conference of local bodies to further discuss the matter and in the meantime to communicate with the Prime Minister and members of Pariiament
