SUGAR SUPPLIES.
PUBLIC STILL TO BE RATIONED. Per Press Association, Wellington, Jane 21 The chairman of the Board of Trade, in a statement to-day, said that the aggregate saving effects tor the New Zealand general public during the past three years as a result of arrangements made with the Colonial Sugar Refining Company was approximately two million sterling, by a comparison with tho amount that would have been paid if the market for sngar had been free here, as elsewhere. The Government had entered into a new agreemnet with the Colonial Company whereby raw sugar could j be purchased in Fiji by the Governmnet, refined at its own expense, and distributed. This system would operate from July Ist. It was anticipated that the quantity would be in excess of that refined last year, but that there is still a necessity for allocating supplies which will still continue under the Board of Trade,
