TECHNICAL EDUCATION.

WANGANUI AND FEILDING I SCHOOLS. QUESTION OF CONTROL. Per Press Association. Wellington, June 18 The Council of Education wai occupied this afternoon considering applications for the constitution of an independent board of managers to teke charge of the Technical Schoola at Wanganui and Feilding. The Wanganui Education Board control? the N Wanganui Technical School at present, and has authorit3' to control the proposed Technical Sohocl at Feilding. Technical school commitEees are in existence in each town, and they had applied to the Council for control of the schools. The Wanganui Education Board has resisted the applications. Representatives of the parties were before the Council yesterday. After prolonged argument the Council decided to defer consideration of the application of the Wanganui Technical Committee. It recommended the committee to appeal apain to the Education Board for the'conetitution of a separate board of managers, and, if the Board declined, to bring the matter again before the Council. The discussion indicated that the Council approved of separate control of the technical schools. The Council decided to advise the Minister for Education to set u# a separate board of managers to take charge of the Feilding Technical , School, this Board to take control three months before completion of the building. The local committee nas already secured a site of 20 acres at Feilding without cost to the Education Department, and the Wanganui Education Bofird has called tenders for the erection of the school.
