Until Good Friday, when he visited Ilfraconibe to see a doctor, Mr Frederick William Allday, of Lnndy (Bristol, Channel), had never seen a motor' car, although some time ago he had a short flight in an aeroplane from Lnndy. This was Mr Allday *s first visit to the mainland for about 24 years. He is postmaster and Lloyd's sub-agent on the island and is alao a iay reader at the tiny church. Born at Lewisham 62 years ago, Mr Allday joined the navy when 15 and served in the same ship aa Lient. (now Admiral) Beatty. When asked if he meant to take his first ride in a motor car, Mr Allday shook his head, saying he would not venture aa he did not feel well enough. .
