THE MEAT GLUT.

United Press Association—By Elec trie Telegraph—Copyright Received March. 18, noon London,. March 13 Some comment was aronsed recently in connection with the quick discharge which is alleged to be secured in London for South American meat It is now pointed out that South American liners have brought no chilled meat for some months'pasti In accordance with Government instructions the liners have been bringing frozen, the same description of beef which they previously carried chilled It is clear, however, that South American meat reaches the ■markets in the United Kingdom much more quickly than Australasian meat, which is also suffering from the length of time it has been in store. *lt is asserted that until the vast stockacf old meat have been disposed of, the good character earned before the war by fresh Australian and New Zealand frozen mdht cannot be fully redeemed It is further con tended that, not much progress will be made with the disposal of meat until it is offered at a price nearer 4d than the present wholesale price of 6d per lb
