The Sugar Conference reached an unanimous decision which is not stated, but is interpreted to mean that an increase of a penny per pound on raw sugar will come into effect. Melbourne, March 17. Brigadier-General. Griffiths has been appointed Administrator of the Pacific possessions. Government has decided to utilise the Lithgow Small Arms Factory for the manufacture of tools to compete in the open market. Mr Watt announced that while in England he will investigate opportunities JEor trade in the Northertf Hemisphere, and the amount of the indemnity coming to'Australia, and the delay in the issue of an Australian mandate over the Pacific Islands.
