INDENTURED LABOUR.

In the House of Commons Mr James Brown, Labour M.P. for South Ayrshire, asked, » “Is indentured labour being used for the development of Samoa?” Mr Amery replied: “Yes. The New Zealand Government found the system operating and it is undotstood that in the exercise of their discretion they are continuing it.” Replying to the Hon Ormsby Gore, Mr Amery said that as far as he knew Onina was the main source of indentured labour ;in Samoa under the German regime, ancj the New Zealand Government was certainly continuing a certain number of Chinese indentured labourers.
