TAXING BACHELORS.

United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. .... Received March 13, 10 a. in. London, March II The Daily Express states that the Income Tax Commission’s report favours discrimination against bachelors by increasing the exemption allowance for a wife to £IOO, the new exemption levels being £l5O and £350, also additional allowances for children. The tax scales show slight reductions on incomes under £2OO, except in cases of |unearned incomes. There are stiff increases on incomes over £3OOO, particularly when unearned. It is recommended that the super-tax . should be increased, and the report says additional exemptions for a wife should be conditional on assessing the wife's income with the husband’s.
