HIDES SALE, Abraham and Williams Ltd., report : Our iirst hide sale under the new regulations was held at Palmerston when our large offering was all cleared at record prices. Competition was excepionally keen and tanners made good use of their right to take hides at the highest bids. As compared with export prices at our last sale in December sound ox and cow hides were up 3d to 4d per lb, and calf skins 9d to 12d per lb Tallow also sold exceptionally well. We quote: Ox, heavy 23d to medium 28d to 24d, light 22%d to 2314 d, cow, heavy 22d to 223*>d, medium 22d to 23d, light 21d to 22d, cut, slippy and inferior lid to 20d, calfskins, beat lines good 45d to stained 38d to 45d, cut, slippy and inferior 15d to 35d, yearlings 20d to 34d, horsehides 12s 6d to 40s each. Tallow in casks £63 to £74 per ton, in tins £63 to £7l per ton, horsehair 12d to I6d per lb, rabbitskins 20d to 31d, cow tails Is 6d per dozen.
