The weather was cloudy for the fourth day of-the Victorian Racnig Club’s autumn meeting, but there was a.large attendance. An outsider, Dinkum Digger, led, for the last two furlongs in the Hopeful Stakes, and won wall, but the time was slow owing to a head wind. David, who was fourth early in the race, got up In the last few vards and just won the Carmichael Stakes. He was well ridden by J Mahoney, who won the autumn double on Red Dome and Macadam. There was a groat race in the Northcote Handicap, but Cape Sky vigorously ridden by Lewis for the last three furlongs, gained a narrow victory from Two Blues, who finished well. Menin, who was last early in the race, finished a good third. Ootswold led all the way in the Steeplechase. Artilleryman led over the last seven furlongs in the King’s Plate, and ran the last six furlongs in 1.16. His stake winnings now total £17,284. J Mahoney rode the double on David and Minoto. Lewis rode Cape Sky and Artilleryman. Results : Hopeful Stakes—Dinkum Digger J, Princess Zemlia 3, Final Leave 3. Seventeen ran. Won by threequarters of a length. Time, 1.5. Napier, March 6 There was again ideal weather for the Napier Park autumn meeting for the concluding day and the attendance was very large. The machine handled £37,561, against £24,883 on the second day of the previous autumn meeting. The total for the meeting was £65.175, an increase of £17,232 over last year’s figures. The money on the last race was a record for the course. Results Oamhu Hurdles—l All Talk 1, 4 Sensitive 2.2 Zeus 3. Also ran: Manhattan, Wishful, Ore Ore and Lady Penza. The favourite won easily by two and a-half lengths. Time, 2.42. Telegraph Hack Handicap—2 Hepta 1, 8 Heathermoon 2, 3 Import 8. Also ran : Early Dawn, Persian King, Astreina, Lady Wolawa, Sycorax, Paonui and Dnnstan Rush. Won by two lengths. Time, 1.15. MacVay Memorial—l Lingerie 1, 6 Goldshine 2, 5 Punka 3. Also ran : Bonny Maid, Lovematch, M&ioha, Dribble, Bagdad, Hookah, Hyttus, The Speaker and Multaino. Won by a length. There was very little between the next half-dozen horses. The attendance was large and the course was in good order and there was capital racing. The totalisator handled £19,161 for the day, against £14,534 for the corresponding day last year, making £34,146 for the meeting, against£39,l99last year.
