Melbourne, March 7. Beaurepaire won the mile swimming championship of Victoria in 24.57 4-5. NORMAN ROSS AT AUCKLAND. A WORLD’S RECORD BROKEN. Per Press Association. Auckland, Mardh 7. The world’s swimming record for 500 metres was broken by Norman Ross yesterday afternoon Paced, Ross covered the distance in 6.44 2-5 —six seconds below his own record in Sydney, He won the 100 yards race in 60secs, equal to the New Zealand record held by Paterson.
