There was keen competition for fat stock at the Westfield market on Wednesday, and beef prices advanced about Is per 1001 b as compared with last week’s rates. Choice ox beef sold at per 1001 b, ordinary and prime beef making Horn £3 9s to £3 18s according to quality. Sheep also showed a slight advance on previous prices, wethers fetching from £1 15s to £3 9s, ewes from £1 8s to£l 16a, and lambs from £1 4s 6d to £1 18s. Last week’s high prices for all classes of pigs were maintained, heavy baconere realising from £7 17s 6d to £8 lsßs.
