Paris, March 1. It is authoritatively stated that the Allies have agreed that the German Court of Justice shall be permitted to 'try a number of selected war •criminals as test cases. It has been decided to furnish Germany with a list of forty-six names, Britain choosing seven, Franco twelve, Belgium fifteen, Italy four and Poland and Komnania the remaining eight. Briatin’s list mostly doncerns submarine atrocities. Cases chosen are plain and straightforward, wherein the accused persons are obviously cnilty of the vilest violation of the laws governing warfare. If the test cases are properly carried ont, It is probable that Allied lists, comprising 800 crminals, will be d/astically reduced. The Allies’ legal representative will attend the trials to ensure no favouritism and the production of all evidence. London, March 8. In the House *of Commons, Mr Lloyd George stated that the Government was not sending the Crown lav/ officers to the trial of the W ar prisoners. It had promised to give the German “Courts an gopportunity .to see justice “done, but Britain had not in the least abandoned her rights. They would watch proceedings most carefully. In the House of Commons, Mr Frederick Hall asked if the German Government did not punish the war criminals would the British Government take steps to see that the terms of the Peace Treaty wore carried out? Mr Bonar Law replied that the Allies reserved all rights under the Treaty bnt thought it would be a great mistake to assume that the German Government was not ready to giva a real trial.
