SENSATIONAL OCCURRENCE.

WOMAN FALLS OFF TRAIN INTO WANGANUI RIVER. SUPPOSED TO HAVE BOARDED AT GRBATFORD Per Press Association. Wanganui, Feb 13. There was a sensational occurrence at Aramoho this morning, a woman whose name is unknown falling from a railway carriage through the bridge over the Wanganui river below, from the 11.5 train from Palmerston North, The occurrence was witnessed by several passengers. It is believed that the woman joined the train at Graatford. Dragging operations) are proceeding but were unsuccessful up to midday. Later. It transpires in connection, with the drowning accident that Mr Ramsbottom, stationmaseer at Aramoho, who witnessed the occurrence made a plucky attempt* at rescue. Ho divested himself of superfluous clothing and swam out tq the middle of the river but the woman, whom he saw struggling, nad disappeared and only her hat was found. Ramsbottom was seized with cramp and called for assistance, a woman and a boy in a boat reaching him just in time.
