MANGAWEKA TOWN BOARD.

From Our Own Correspondent. The Board met on Tuesday evening, tnere being present: Messrs D. Watkins (chairman), Phyn, Amer and Graham. The chairman drew attention to the presence of the town clerk, and expressed the pleasure of the Board in that he had sufficiently recovered from his illness to be able to resume his chair. They all hoped the recovery would be fall and permanent. The chairman reported that he had accepted the tender of Mr Boag for the right to harvest grass seed on section Y, Block 1., and in the cemetery. The amount of tender £2 10s had been paid in. He also stated that one tender had been received for the purchase of buildings bn section 40, but as ho considered it too low, had declined to accept it.— The chairman’s action was approved. It was decided, on the motion of Messrs Amer and Phyn to sell the buildings by public auction. The electrical engineer reported that three new installations had been made and several alterations and ex-, tensions effected ; that 550 units had been consumed during the month, and 278,500 gallons of water lifted to the reservoir. The plant was in fair working order—The report was approved and the engineer thanked. £ It was decided to abandon the idea of building about two chains of post and wire fence in order to allow impounded stock to reach water, and in lieu thereof to carry a small pipe from the main to the pound for watering purposes A petition from a number of ratepayers, praying the Board to take control ol the Seddon Memorial Boom and Library was received, hud it was resolved to call a public meeting to be held on Saturday, 21st, to discuss the matter and to elect a committee. Accounts amounting to £205 13s were passed for payment, several matters of finance and works attended to, and the Board adjourned.
