Following on Mr Lloyd George’s refusal to interfere with the private ownership of coal mines a special Trades Union Congress in Loudon, representing live million men, decided to intensify the campaign during the next two months with a view of compelling nationalisation. Mr Smillie warned Government that constitutional action will be taken in February if nationalisation is not c ouceded.
