TURAKINA NOTES

(Prom Our Own Correspondent.) At a of a special committee of the Maori Mission Committee of the Presbyterian Church in Wanganui on Tuesdaj', 11th insfc.. Miss Ethel Kinross, Pipiriki, was appointed principal and head teacher, and Sister Agnes, formerly of Kai Iwi, was appointed matron of the Maori Girls’ College. These appointments are in place of Miss Powell and Miss Gillanders, v/ho have both resigned. Miss Kinross had an excellent record at Christchurch Training College and holds the B certificate in teaching. She has been for two 'years teacher in the Native School, Pipiriki. Sister Agnes has a good record of work as a deaconess. The staff promises to be an excellent one. This College for the training of Maori girls has done good work in the past,* and continues to do it, and is entitled to the support of all who have the best interests of the Maoris at heart.
