Needless to say. I am disappointed to have to have to relinquish the light at this moment. However, I have adopted this course in deference to the wishes.of my friends and supporters, who feit-and I think righjtiy—that if the position had been pressed it would have seriously endangered the winning of the seat to the Liberal and Progressive Party. Personally I also feel that Mr Meldrum’s eminent war services entitle him to eyery consideration in the circumstances. I sincerely hope that all my supporters will give loyal support to Mr Meldrum.
