The question of stipends was discussed by the Anglican Synod, which rejected a motion that the bishop license no assistant curate to any cure unless guarantees are given to the satisfaction of the standing committee that his stipend 'will not be less than £3OO for a deacon and £350 for a priest. Bishop Julius, i n announcing the result of the vote, promised that the matter would not be forgotten, and he would take care that it would go befpre the standing committee for consideration. Subsequently the Synod carried a resolution that the minimum stipend for clergy in charge of parishes and parochial districts should be £350 yearly inclusive of any grant from the Church Property Trust or Church Mission Funds, with free vicarage, or equivalent in housing allowance.
