A SINGULAR CASE.
ALLEGATION Oh’ ATTEMPTED MURDER. FOR STEALING WIFE AND BABIES. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. London, June 16. An ex-soldier named James Ryan, living inJOherfcsey, was'charged .with attempting to murder Private Algernon Worger, of the Otago Regiment, while the latter was in hospital at Oatlauds Paik, having lost a leg. Worger appeared in court witH Ins neck bandaged. He gave evidence that Ryan attacked him with a table knife. Ryan, when arrested, said Worger stole his wife and four babies, and only Worger *was aware of his wife's' whereabouts. The hearing was adjourned.
