SANSON RED CROSS GUILD.

The fourth annual and final meeting of this Guild was held on the 20th inst. There was'a large attendance of members. The President, Mrs J. H .Perrett, presided and in her report said:—l hare pleasure in presenting the fourth and final report and balance sheet of our Guild. lam sure it gives us great pleasure to know that the dreadful war has ended and the great sacrifice of”the flower of our manhood no longer necessary. It is a great consolation to know that we have emerged from the great ordeal successfully. Although we realise the cost has been very great, yet our position would have been infinitely worse had we failed. The work of the Guild will be no longer necessary and I desire to congratulate members on the success that has attended their efforts. The first meeting was held on January 15ht, 1915, and we have worked together harmoniously and well ever since. It will be interesting to members to know that we have raised altogether in cash the large sum of £ll6B, of this sum £833 has been spent in the purchase of material, the balance to “Our Day Fund. ” The number of articles made and forwarded has been about 5048, and the number of bandages 15,360, and as ours is only a small idstrict we should be very proud of this result. The balance in the Bank amounts to £ll2 13s lid, and with certain amounts to come in will prob ably reach about £l3O, and I deisre that to-day you come to some decision as to its disposal. It can only be devoted to the assistance of wounded soldiers or their dependants. I desire to thank Mr J. Anderson for his gift of packing cases during the past four years, and all those who assisted in any way in Promoting the success of the Guild, he thanks of the members are due to Miss Nelly Lawrence for her services as hon. secretary. I desire to personally thank the members for the splendid support given me during the past four years, and I sincerely hope that it will never again be necessary to form a Red Cross Guild in Sanson.” After some discussion it was decided that the balance in hand be devoted to assist in the rearing of soldiers’ orphans, and a committee consisting of the President, Mrs W. Pearce, |Mrs Croucher, and Mrs El lerm was set up to arrange for its disposal. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to St. Thomas’ vestry for the free use of the Sunday School room for working in. On behalf of the members the President presented a gold mounted fountain pen to Miss Lawrence and conveyed their hearty appreciation of her services as hon. secretary during the past four years. The Rev. Mr James congratulated members on their splendid work, especially the President, the cutter out. Mrs Lawrence, and Miss Harris. On behalf of the members he had great pleasure in asking Mrs Fagan, sen., to make a small presentation to the President as a slight appreciation of her services. The gift, which consisted of a solid leather handbag, wasj a great surprise to Mrs Perrett, who feelingly thanked her co-v/orkers for their splendid gift. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr J. H.
