STATEMENT TO MR MASSEY EXCELLENT ARRANGEMENTS MADE United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received, June o, 9 a.m. London, June 3. Official: Lord Inverforth, of the Ministry of Munitions, lias sent Mr Massey an interesting statement regarding freight arrangements for New Zealand wool. He states: “Since February we have an agreement with liners to carry all wool required for the United Kingdom and France up to December 31st this year at the very favoruable rate of a penny and five-eighths. Four or five months hence the time will come to make arrangements for 1920, and freight requirements, in justice to New Zealand sheep'farmers, who have a heavy interest in the profits on re-sale of wool, the Minister of Munitions will, of course, feel obliged to secure the lowest possible freight for wool which can bo obtained from ships under the British flag. LONDON WOOL SALES. London, June 3. The wool sales closed firm. There was good competition for supercombings and crossbreds, but low carbonizing sorts were irregular, and some withdrawn. Fine crossbreds and merino combings were about five per cent, above opening rates. Other descriptions were about par. “Ruhana” (New Zealand wool) made up to 28d and averaged 26%.
