INFLUENZA IN AUSTRALIA.

Brisbane, June 4.

Influenza continues to increase its hold both in the city and country districts. Up to Monday 6595 cases were reported in the metropolitan area, and 2113 in the country. Since Saturday there have been over forty deaths, including nine in the country. Sydney, June 4. On Wednesday evening ithe influenza position was again less reassuring. There were over a hundred new cases, and se ,r en deaths in the metropolitan area to-day. In several of the country centres the epidemic shows an increasing tendency, and pr ecautions are again being adopted in the country districts against the spread of the disease.
