PRESENTATION OF PRIZES There was a large attendance at the Town Hall on the occasion of the presentation of the school prizes for the year, which had been postponed by rhe influenza Before the presentation began, Mr Edhonsa kindly gave an hour’s picture show, which was much appreciated hy iha children. Mr McManaway, the chairman of the committee, in a short speech, congratulated the headmaster and the staff on the year’s results. At the end of 1918 the school roll closed with 148 in the nrimary and 18 in the secondary division, and in the 1919 opened with 150 in the primary and 22 in the secondary division. During the year fifteen pupils were prepared for the 'proficiency exam., and ci these 14 gained the proficiency certificate and one the competency. The following is the prize list:— Secondary Upper Division—Eliza Harris 1.
Intermediate —Alice Brown 1, Linda Ingram 2. Lower—Guy Simpson 1. Standard Vl—Clarence Hill 1, Grace Hobbs 2, Winifred "Wicks 3, Standard V —Kenneth- Vile 1, Ronald Flower 2, Harold Tricker 3. Standard IV —Thelma Canning J, May Kearney 2, John Kearney 3. Standard lll—Dorothy Fraser i, Alfred Ellery 2, Cyril Sharp 3. Standard ll—Walter Langdon 1, Eric Green 2. Vera Ingram 3. | Standard I -jNanpy Wightman 1, Ronald Sharp *, Frederick Rncroft 3. The Committee presented a book to each of the children in the Infant Classes Attendance certificates were earned by Alice Brown, Linda Ingram, Thelma ” Hosking, Grace Hobbs, Denis Walker, Myrtle Green, Horace Langdon, Kenneth Vile, Fred Ingram, May Kearney, Thelma Canning, Lily Button, John Kearney, Stella Kidd, Annie Blake, Mand Webb, Alfred Ellery, John Tricker, Noel Langdon, Henry Hosking, Vera Ingram, Daisy Phillips, Rita Sharp. Robert Blake, Eric Green, Frederick Rncroft, Robert Ingram, Derek Blake, and Morgan. Messrs Vile and Walker also presented a book to every winner of a certificate. Special prizes for progress (headmaster’s prizes)—Leslis Kemp and Mavis Vile. Good Conduct—Florence Mc-Minn.
