SANDON BLOCK NOTES.

From Our Own Oorrrespondent.

The annual picnic in connection with the Waipuru School was held in Mr Holloway’s paddock last Tuesday. There was a good attendance of children and a fair attendance of adults. Every child attending school received a prize. There were races for money and toys for the children, and games for all. The day was vary warm, hut nevertheless the children enjoyed themselves thoroughly. School re-opened yesterday (Wednssday) after nearly ’three months’ vacation. No pupils are to he promoted this year on account of the school having bad such a bad run. Early last year it was closed for some weeks on account of the non-appointment of a teacher, and towards the latter part of the year it was closed again on account of the epidemic.

Summer seems to have come* at last. The past few days and nights have been very warm, and the weather seems to have a more settled appearance.
