Christchurch, September 4, At Addington market to-day there were again small yardings of fat cat tie aim fat sheep hut large entries of store cattle and store pigs, and moderate offerings in other departments. Fat cattle and sheep were both firmer in consequence of short supplies. There was only one small pen of fat ewes, and they w T ere only lightweights. A few fat lambs were penned. Store cattle met with a fair demand, and pigs sold well considering the large offering. Siore Sheep 2 and 4-tooth ewes 34s 6d to 40s. (5 and 8-tooth ewes 355, 4 and 6-tooth wethers 24s 9cl to 40s, 6 and 8-tooth wethers 355, ewe hogget 26s 6d to 355, mixed sexes to 30s 9d, wether hoggets 23s to 26s lOd. Fat Sheep —Extra prime steers to 61s 6d, prime wethers 44s 6d to 51s medium wethers 40s to 445, lighter wethers 35s to 39s Gd, hoggets 30s to 42s 6d. Fat Lambs—2ls 6d to 32s Gd. Fat Cattle —Extra prime steers to £3O 10s, prime steers £l9 15s to £26, ordinary steers £9 10s to £l9, extra prime heifers £l6 15s, prime heifers £ls to £i6, f prime cows £l7 to £lB 2s Gd, ordinary cows £9 5s to £f6 15s. Store Cattle —Yearlings £5 17s Gd to £6, 2 -year steers £9 11s, 2-year heifers £7 10s to £8 ss, 2 to steers £lO 7s to £l2 10, dry cows £5 to £9 12s Gd, dairy cows £7 10s to £lB.

Pigs— Choppers £5 10s £8 10s, baccners £4 10s to £6 15s (equal to 9d per lb), porkers 50s to £4 (equal to {)}£•* to 9%d per lb), large stores sqs to 535, medium 42s to 40s, smaller 28s to 365, weauer 26s to 36a.

BURNSIDE MARKET. Dunedin, September 4. At Burnside to-day 172 fat cattle were penned, principally medium to good quality steers. Prices opened at an advance of £1 on late rates, but declined 10s as the sale progressed. Prime bullocks £2O to £24 7s Gd, medium £l7 to £lB 10s, light £l4 to £l6 ss, medium cows and heifers £l2 10s to £l4 10s, light inferior £lO Is to £ll 15s.

Shc>ep—2lo were penned, including a number of very prime ewes and wethers. A number of outside buyers were purchasing for the northern markets and a keen sale resulted. Prices were fully equal to all week’s rates. Extra prime wethers 58s 9d, prime 49s to 545, medium 42s 6d to 465, light 34s to 395, extra prime ewes 50a 9d, prime 42s 9d to 465, medium 34s to 395, light 30s, hoggets 27s to 30s 9d. Pigs—There was a medium entry, comprising porkers, bacouers, suckers, and a few slips. The demand by curers and butchers was decidedly easier. Suckers and slips were in short supply and prices were much higher than late rates.
