TO-NIGHT. “SYLVIA OF THE SECRET SERVICE.” Enter the New Zealand Picture Theatres—lrene Castle, or as she is better known, Mrs Vernon Castle, the most piquant, ultra fashionable actress of two. continents. Her first film plav is “Sylvia of the Secret Service” and it is a masterpiece. The story opens in the offices of an Amsterdam Diamond cutter who entrusts an enormous jewel to the custody of the hero The latter takes elaborate precautions to keep the big stone safe, hut the desperate gang cleverly defeats him. A vain and obstinate Scotland Yard official arrests him as the culprit, and it is only after much ingenuity and many strange adventures that Sylvia rescues the hero from his predicament. The photography is good, and the whole drama is quite uni que production. The suppporting cast is exceptionally strong.

PEG OF MY HEART. SATURDAY, SEPT. 14th. Messrs J. and N. Tait, have made arragements to stage “Peg of My Heart” in Martou, on Saturday, September 14th, and theatre goers can look forward to something out of the ordinary. The caste is exactly the same as the previous tour of New Zealand and includes Sara AHgood, who takes the part of “Peg.” Record busiues has been done, and smaller towns than usually visited are being given a trial for future business. At present there is a certain amount of rivalry between Taits and J. O. Williamson, and the public are getting the benefit of it. This is the best pro auction that has visited Marton since “Sweet Nell of Old Drury” and it is safe to predict that the hall will be packea. The box plan is now open at Mogridges and as soon as the news is whispered round that the Taits are really bringing a company to Martou and it is “Peg of My Heart,” the plan will fill quickly.
