BUTTER AND CHEESE.

CONFERENCE OF REPRESENTATIVES. [Per Press Association. 1 Wellington, September 6. The Acting-Premier, together with the Hods. W. D. S. MacDonald and Guthrie, yesterday had a conference with representatives of the chesse and butter interests. The delegates asked that the Home representatives of butter and cheese producers should “be '.recognised in regard to negotiations for the pur chase Zealand cheese and butter by the Imperial authorities. They also asked what was ’no reason for the delay in settling the price of butter, and pointed out that it the matter was not soon settled there might be a difficulty in financing the industry, owing to the large quantity of butter being in store in New Zealand, aid upon which pending a settlement, no advance could bo secured.

sTne Acting' Premier replied that Mr Massey had consulted Mr Ellison regarding the negotiations, and had instructed the High Commissioner to iutrduce him to the British Food Controller. This had been done.
