THE CHURCH ARMY’S WORK.

During the nine month to the end of March the expenniture of th® i Church Army had amounted to ! £873,318, and the receipts to £834 280 j The acivities of this splendid organisation included Kitchen Cars on the West Front, Hostels for men on leave in London, training for men, parcels for prisoners of war, work here in New Zealand, and the comfort of the men on transports. General Sir William Robertson recently paid a remarktable tribute to the work of the Church Army. At the annual meeting in London the stated that the death-dealing effect of modern armaments Iwas so; great, the strain on the power of human endurance was so prolonged and intense, and the numbers engaged were so colossal, s that nothing less than the highest standard of moral and phyical powers would suffice to ensure victory. Every endeavour therefore be made to provide facilities for our troops to recover and retain those , powers. Ihe work of the Church I Army was so designed as to conduce effectively to that end, and he commended the the organisation to his hearers.
