MARTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The Council met last evening. Present; The Mayor (Mr ,F. G. Wilson), andJ,Ors. J. G. Harris, H, Sutcliffe, Jas. Wilson, J. A. Bush, and J. Hunter.

The Mayor’s action in increasing the tvages of Mr A. T. “Marshall to 27s Gd a week for.sanitation removal from July Ist, 1918, was confirmed. Mr F. H. Hatherly wrote in reference to payment of his rent in advance for the office in the Town Hall, and stating that sooner than he dictated to by the Town Clerk he would vacate the offices. Why waste the Council’s stationery,and (stamps and your own valuable time concocting twaddle? Mr Hatherly'attended the Council meeting and stated his case.—No action taken.

Mr F. Brice wrote, asking Council to asphalt footpaths in Lower Follett Street.—Council regretted its inability to do the work. Father Cushman wrote, statin? that the Catholics intend holding a bazaar in aid of educational purposes, and asked for the use of the Town Hall from Monday, 30th December, to January 3rd, 1919.—Left in hands of Town Hall Committee to confer with Father Cushman and lessee of hall. Mr H. J. Higham wrote, and complained of the manner in ...which he had been treated by the town clem in reference to a gas account dispute. —Received. Mr Neilseii waited on the Council in reference to a 10-inch culvert that bad been put in on Foliet Street Extension to replace several wooden culverts. During the last three years he had been flooded out four times, and material to tb6 value of £2O had been damaged. Mr Neilsen suggested a scheme by which be remedied.—l» was decided that the foreman report on the matter.
