ADDNGTON MARKET. Christchurch, August 7.

At the Addington market the display' of fat stock for the double or “Grand National” market was an exceptionally fine one, and the general opinion was that the collection of prime fat cattle was the beat ever seen in a saleyard in the Dominion. The entry of tat sheep was a large one, and included many choice lines. Fat cattle were entered from Auckland, Wairarapa, Nelson, Westland, Otago, and Southland, as well as from almost all over Canterbury, ana there were fat sheep from Nelson, Blenheim. Kaikoura, and from as far south as Southland. Top prices were not equal to those of past years, but the sale of both fat cattle and fat sheep was an excellent one, cousid • ering the numbers and weight of the s lock penned. The top prices for bul locks were made ;by a pair sent by Messrs Heudeisou Bros., Balclntha, which won first prize at the Otago and Southland winter show this year respectively, and realised £47 and £45. A bullock from Auckland was passed in at £37 Mr Fred Bull’s ’Romney Shropshire wethers again topped the market, the highest figure being £8 10s, and fat pigs up to £l9. Store sheep were in good demand, and there was fair inquiry for store cattle. Pigs of all classes sold well.
