HUNTERVILLE NOTES.

From Our Own Correspondent. As the time specified for closing business premises at 530 is swiftly drawing to a close, it behoves those interested in this matter, to give it their careful consideration. Probably the majority of the retailers in|the town would be in favour of the continunce of the early closing, for the duration of the war.

A meeting was held in the Argyle Hall on Monday afternoon in commemoration of the Fourth Anniversary of the declaration of War be tween Great Britain and Germany. Mr W. Maclean, chairman of the Town Board, occupied the chair, and put the resolumn to the meeting. This was seconded by Mr Jas. Bull, chairman of the Patriotic Committee. The proceedings were brought to a close by the singing cf the National Antnem. Ibe Boy Scouts were present, under the direction of Scoutmaster Grove, assisted by Sergt.-Major Brennan, and made an imposing spectacle. On August the 13th and 27th the Red Cross Shop will be conducted by Mesdamea Wilson, Howie, and Whilbun. Two competitions will be held, one for meat pies and one for fruit cake uniced, 5s prize in eacn case.
