SEVEN CANADIANS IN LIST,

SEQUEL TO GERMAN ATTAC K

Seven Canadians have been awarded the Victoria Cross. They include Lieutenant 0. P. O’Kelly, whoso company advanced a thousand yards without a barrage and cuplured six pill-boxes, 100 prisoners, and 10 machine guns. Sergeant Mullin, another Camdian, crawled to the top of a pill-box and shot two machine-gunners with a revolver. Though his clothes were riddled with bullets, ho never faltered. Other Canadians rushed machinegun posts, and billed or captured the gun crows. Lieutenant Robert Geo, of the Royal Fusiliers, another recipient of the coveted medal, was taken prisoner when the enemy pierced our lino and captured a brigade headquarters and an ammunition dump. Gee killed his guard with a spiked stick. He escaped and-organ-ised a party from the brigade staff, who attacked the enemy fiercely, and finally established a defensive Hank on the outskirts of the village. When he found an enemy machine gun in action,' with a revolver in each hand, and followed by one man, he rushed tire gun, killing eight of the gun crow. Though wounded he refused to have the wound dressed until the defence had been organised. Lance-Corporal Mcßeath. ot the Seaforth Highlanders, wdio has also been awarded ‘ the Victoria (Cross, with the asistance of a tank rushed five machine guns, and drove the gunners to a deep dugout, where Mcßeath regardless of the danger, followed, capturing do Germans. By tins means he enabled two British units to advance.
