PAREWANUI STATE SCHOOL.

The annual breaking up of the Parewanui® school took place on Wednesday, quite a number of parents in addition to the children being present. The occ .sion was taken advantage of to serve a triple purpose, to welcome the new teacher, air Lock, and to farewell the former teacher, Miss Scot, and also to welcome back the former chairman of the school committee, Mr F. O. Brookie, who has recently returned to Parawanui after having been for'some considerably time on active service in Egpyt and Palestine.

In a neat speech the chairman of the school committee eulogised Miss Scot’s services during the years she had conducted the school and asked Miss Scot to accept the presentation, of a purse of sovereigns as some slight expression of the r egard in which slie was held by both parents and children.

Miss Scot suitably thanked the donors and wished the new teacher, Mr Lock, and the Parawanui school children every success in the future Mr Lock and Mr Brooke also spoke the latter giving some interesting experiences that he had-at the front. After singing the National anthem the gathering despersed.
