RONBBTEA STATE SCHOOL CONCERT.

The above concert took place last Eriday evening in the Coronation Hall in aid of school prizes and improvements to the grounds, and,notwithstanding other counter attractions, the hall was filled and the result must be satisfactory to the School committee. The stage was prettily decorated and the teachers — Mrs Tuck and Miss Little—are to be commended for the manner they had the pupils trained for the various items given in such a short space of time they have been on the staff here, every item going off without a hitch and Called forth rounds of applause. Tiie fancy dancing by little Ruth Skerman was highly appreciated, which she had to repeat. A dialogue by the Rongotea Boy Scouts was well given and caused no end of amusement, while a piayetto by the Rongotea Old School Girls was well staged. Mr J. R. McCall (chairman) officiated as stage manner in his usual best style and the programme gone through was as follows: —Overture trio “ihe Canary Bird,” Misses Walsh, Cockburn and Callander; song “Two Little Hands,” Int-nt Girls: recitation “Hoping,” Miss Lily Hirst: song “Flowers, Beautiful Flowers,” The Flower Girls (encored); recitation ‘‘ A Little Girl’s Sorrow,” Miss Vera McCall; song “The Fisher Baby,” Infant Boys; recitation “Tile Spider,” Bruce Clarke; song, selected, Mrs Taylor; skirt dance “The Gipsy,” Miss Ruth Skerman (encored); “Redeeming their Characters,” Boy Scouts; pianoforte duet *‘Maudoliuetto, ” Misses Callander and Cockburn; song “Coming Horae,” Mrs R. Skerman, encored and repeated; song ‘Smile, Smile, Smile,,” School Girls: recitation “Brown Eyes,” Miss Gould; skirt dance “The Fairy’s Frolic,” Miss Skerman. encored; song “Doreen,” Mr Illingworth; plajratte “The Girls of Miss Milligan’s Seminary,” Rongotea Old School Girls; “God Save the' King. ”

The accompaniments were played by Misses Little and Walsh and Mrs A. 'i nylor, and the thanks of the committee is extended to tho .ladies who so ably asissted to bring the concert to its successful issue. At the cull of the chairman it was carried by acclamation, and after singing tho National Anthem a very well-satisfied and appreciative audience dispersed.
