HAIG’S DOUSED PERSISTENCY.

ANOTHER OFFENSIVE LAUNCHED. OH A SIX MILE FSOKT. Received Oct. 13, (Jam. Sir Douglas Haig reports: We attacked at 5.25 this morning on a six mile front, northeastward of Ypres and are progressing satisfactorily. There was heavy rain during the night.

FIRST OBJECTIVES TAKEN. BRITISH CARRYING ALL BEFORE THEM. Received Oct. 153, 10 a.m. Loudon, Oct. 13. The British have taken all the first objectives, are _ still sweeping on, carrying all before them. Considerable batches of prisoners are coming in. The battle front extends six miles south from Houthulst Wood. Everything was going well at noon, and tiie troops are within the shortest distance to Passchendaele. It is too early to estimate the numbers of prisoners. Fighting continues vigorously. Aeroplanes swooping up and down in swarms at a low altitude are freely machine gunning the enemy i nfautry. The French did not participate in the attack. The rain ceased at dawn. There are heavy low clouds, but the visibility is fair. . Enemy artillery was active during the night on the central and southern portions of the battle front, especially on Broodseinde ridge, Anzac ridge,, and Roulors railway, putting over a considerable number of gas shells. Between 4 and 4.30, when the British barrage began, enemy machine gunning answered with a terrific rattle, but the iartillery replied tardily and erratically. FEATS OF NAVAL AIRCRAFT. ATTACKING ENEMY TRENCHES. ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUNS SILENCED. London, Oct. 11. Tin' Admiralty rejxorts tluit a naval aircraft patrolling machine gunned enemy trenches. One pilot descended, attacked and silenced anti-aircraft guns. A large quantity of explosives were dropped on Thourout and Lichtorveld railway junctions.
