GERMS MAKE COUNTERATTACKS
MOSTLY REPULSED WITH LOSS. United Press Asociation —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. High Commissioner reports; London 10, 11.45 a.m. Mir Douglas Haig reparrs that in i lie neighbourhood of the YpresStaden railway, yesterday, several enemy'counterattacks were repulsed southward of the railway, on a front ot about 2000 yard. Our advanced troops were forced back a short distance northeastward of Broodseinde.

AT DEATH GRIPS WITH THE ENEMY'. OELIC WOOD CAPTURED. Received Oct. 11, 11 a.m. Loudon, Oct. 10. The United Press’ correspondent states that the Australians, after terrific bayonet fighting, gained possession of Oelic Wood, southeastward of Broodseinde.
BERNSTORFF’S MACHINATIONS
Washington, Oct. 10. The State Department has published cablegrams to Berustorff, revealing that Germany in 1916 proposed destroying the Canadian Pacific railway by sabotage. It was a United States plot, instigated by Casement.
