RANGITIKEI PATRIOTIC SOCIETY’S FOODS.

[To The Editor. ] j SIR, —At the annual meeting of i the Rangitikei ;Li;: iio Society it I was decided that in view of the fact } tiiat the Australian and New Zea- | land soldiers are now on the WestI era Front and fighting line, and that very many claims on the Socij ety’s Funds will have to be met from time to time, it is urgently necessary that the General Fund of the Society—from which all miscellaneous charges have to he paid—- ! should be at once placed in a strong financial postion. The Society, therefore, determined that the whole of the Kangitikei Patriotic district should be systematically canvassed for funds, f, therefore, as Chairman of the Society, would urge that a liberal response be to the canvassers when calling at the various residences, remembering that their work is purely honorary, and that it is undertaken purely from a sense of duty. There are very many members of this community wno are either themselves or their sous serving in the battle front. It is our duty who remain behind to see that we take our part i.= this terrible struggle, which will bring .us peace and safety, but contributing all we can conscientiously spare towards building up a fund tor their relief should they or their dependents need to seek its aid. Persons when asked to contribute may do so in money or in kind. Any stock whicli contributors are kind enough to give will be auctioned free of all charge by the auctioneers, It may be useful to state that out of the General Fund will come such payments that are required monthly tor wounded soldiers in England, or grants to hospitals in countries other than New Zealand, and numerous other calls which are continually arising as the war proceeds. I limy say that all contributions made to the canvassers or sent direct to the secretary or treasurer of the Society, will be acknowledged in the Kangitikei Advocate. —I am, etc., _ B. P. LETHBRIDGE, Chairman of Kangitikei Patriotic Society.
