SANDON BLOCK NOTES.

From Our Own Correspondent. We have had a long spell of cold wet, windy weather, interspersed with hail and thunder storms. The winds have played havoc with unsheltered orchards and flowergardens. There is an abundant growth of grasss about; but on account of the continuous rain it is very soft. The dairy farmer thus does not get enough cream from the quantity of milk the cows yield. Cream tests range from 2.(! to 4.8. The Taihape Dairy Co. paid out Is 3d per lb. for butter fat during October month.

The wet weather has delayed shearing considerably. Most of the farmers about the district who shore early, sold their wool at the Wellington wool sales held last Wednesday, November 17th, and were more than pleased with the prices received, which ranged from 15%d to 18%d. Mr Browning, Home Missionary for the Rewa district, has just about got accustomed to his new quarters. He arrived last July and is doing good work in the district. He intends giving a magic lantern service in the Sand on Block Hall next Friday evening at 8 o’clock. A collection will be taken during the evening, which will go towards the church funds. There has not been any diversion from the ordinary routine of events in Sandou Block and the young folk, to say nothing of the older folk, will enjoy t)io evening’s entertainment. Mr Browning has a very hard district to work in and it is to be hoped people will appreciate his 'effort by being present in large numbers on Friday next.
