The erection of the Bowling Club’s pavillion is progressing steadily The building will be right up-to-date, and besides being a boon to the locals it will be much appreciated by visiting bowlers. For the purpose of making arrangements for a sports gathering on New Year’s Day, a meeting of the Taihape Athletic Club will be held on Friday, December 3rd. The showery weather continues throughout the district, and shearing is being seriously affected. The friends of Mr_T. J. Shute, of Taihape, will be pleased to learn that he is making good progress since his serious operation ‘of three weeks ago. At the Town Hall on Monday night the Carnival Executive conducted the drawing of the art unions. The Ford car, presented by Messrs Wakeman Bros., was won by Mr T. Hills, Rang)ora, Canterbury, with ticket No, 3764. The sideboard, presented by Mr F. W. Somerville, went to Mr D, Moore. Hnnterville’ tickett No. 220. Second prize, section at Waiouru, presented by Mr G. Bray, was secured by “John Bull,’’ Taihape, ticket No. 6360. Mrs J. A. Anderson, Bennett’s Siding, carried off 3rd prize, a Jsaddle, presented by Messrs Fraser and Co.; 4fch prize, a* double-barellej gun. presented by McLanghlau Bros., went to S. Moxted, Taihape. <
