WELLINGTON LAND BOARD.

Tho monthly meeting of the Wellington District Land Board was held on Thursday. Present: Messrs CsL H. M. McClure, Commissioner of Crown Lands (in the chair), J. Dawson, J. Gcorgetti and C. McIntyre. The following applications for ■land were approved :~Pouwhakarua block, block 18, Hautapu, 368 acres £ roods, month to month, Robert G. Dalziell, at rent of £4O per annum , -Pouwhakarua block, Hauapu, block 18, 453 acres 2 roods,month to month John Woolston, at rent of £lßl 8s per year; block 4, Kaitieke, 1 acre 3 roods, year to year, Adsett and Manning, at rent of £1 per annum, block 7, Mangaweka .North township, 1 acre 13 roods, year to year, E. M, Moore, at rent of £3 7s 6d per annum; sections 8 and 9, block 10, Mataroa township, 2 roods year to year, J. H. Garmonsway, at rent of £1 per annum; block 4, Kaitieke, 25 acres, miscellaneous license, Adsett and Manning. The following transfers were approved—Sections 3 and 6, block 7, Owhango township, la Or sp, J. Larsen to A, Weir; section 46, block 5, Pohonm V.S., 32a 3r 37p, A. A. B. Tegner to W. Wright, subject to amendment of regulations , section 5, Ohakune V. S., 6 acres, L. G. Abel to L. M. Tansey, recommended for approval of Minister. The following application for sub lease was approved:—Section 3, block 13, Kaitieke, 931 acres, J. J, Dooley to M. Mulcahy. MISCELLANEOUS, It was resolved to determine the permit granted to R. E. Hornblow to graze part section 55, block X., Hautapu, 8 acres, as from June 30th, 1915 A letter was read from Mr H. J. Canton acknowledging on behalf of his mother the Board’s letter of condolence relative to the death of her son while he was in action at the Dardanelles. It was resolved to offer the Kaitieke County Council a temporary permit to occupy part section 5, suburbs of Kaitieke, and part Township Reserve, Kaitieke, containing in all approximately 8 acres from year to year, at an annual rental of £1 10s. Mrs B. York wrote stating that her husband, the selector of section 34, Ohakune V.S., had been killed in action at the Dardanelles, and asking for remission of rent. It was resolved to recommend IS months’ remission, that is up to June 30th, 1916, in terms of section 33 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1915. It was resolved to allow Messrs Stevens and McPherson to retnaiu in occunation of section 121, Maminui Suburbs, 4a 2v Op, for a further period of twelve months from July Ist, 1915, at a rent of £3 per annum. The Egmont Box Company, Ltd, applied for a year-to-year lease of the cleared portion of Whakapapa Island, about 10 acres, and it was resolved to grant it under section 130 of the Land Act. 1908, at a rent of £3 per annum. In continuation of the .board’s resolution of October 38th, 1915, with regard to section 2, block 15, Horopito West Township, it was resolved to reduce the rent to £3 per annum. In continuation of the Board’s re-’ solution of October 28th, 1915, with regard to section 2, block 1, Horopito West Township, it was resolved to reduce the rent to £2 10s per annum, and the value of improvements to £5.

Applications were received from Messrs G. Lenny and M, C. Wedde for sections 2a and 2b, block 11, Kaitieke S.D., 3a 2r 39p.—It was resolved to decline Mr Wedde’s application, and to recommend that Mr Gordon Lenny be allowed to select them for cash under section 131 of the Land Act, 1908, at the price of £37. It was resovled to grant Mr C. Le F. Houoro a license to occupy sections 4,5, 6,7, and 8, block 17, Horopito West township, 4a 3r 27p, for a term of live years under section 130 of the Land Act, 1908, at a rent of £5 per annum, subject to usual conditions and to no compensation being payable for any improvements that may be effected; the licensee to have the right of removing his improvements at the expiration or determination of the license, sectionsto be left clear of rubbish at end of term.

It was resolved to grant Mr C. Le F. Honore a license to occupy sections Ito 8. block 18, 1,2, 3, and 9 to 10, block 17, Horopito West Township, 19a 3r 15p, for at erm of five years under section 130 of the Laud*Act, 1908, at a rent of £8 per annum, with right to remove improvements at end of term; no buildings to be erected. With reference to the proposed sale of section 1, block 14, Raugitoto, 163 a Ir, by public auction under section 132 of the Land Act, 1908, it was resolved to offer for cash or deferred payment under the power now given by section 6 of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1915. It was resolved to grant Mrs A.M. Robinson a permit to occupy section 2, block 31, Ohakune township, 39 perches, from year to year at a rent of £2 30s per annum subject to the usual conditions.

It was resolved to give notice to the present licensee of section G and part 9, block 6, Apiti S.D., that her license to occupy will be determined on December 31st next, and to approve of the present occupier, Mrs John Bruce, being granted a permit to occupy from year to year from that date under section 130 of the Land Act, 1906, at a rent increased to £l4 per annum. it was resolved to offer section 35, block 2, Makuri S.D., 7 acres, for cash and deferred payment by public auction as first-class land of special value under section 132 of the Land Act, 1908, and its ameudmen ts, at

an upset price of £B4 (land of superior quality for agricultural purposes. It was resolved to offer the four undermentioned sections as secondclass and under part SO of the Land Act, 1908, at prices as under: — Section 7, block 5, Euahine, 533 acres, £3 per acre; section 8, block 5, Ruahine, 766 acres, £3 10s per acre; section 1, Mock 6, Ruahine, 798 acres, £2 per acre; section 2, block 6, Ruahine, 1458 acres, £1 10s per acre; and to recommend that a ballot be held at Mangawera not later than March 31st, 1916. It was.resovled to offer for cash by public auction the lots recently surveyed in blocks 2, 10, 11, Raurixnu township (excepting those that may be required for reserves), at upset prices recommended by, the ranger; owners of any improvements now on lots to be allowed one month from date of sale in which to remove or dispose of them. It was resolved to offer for cash by public auction the lots recently surveyed in block 0, Kakahi township (excepting those that may be required for reserves) at the upset prices recommended by the surveyor. It was resolved to offer 10 lots recently surveyed in block 6, Hunua S,D, (bock 5, Kakahi Extension), as first-class land under part 3 of the Land Act, 908, at capital values recommended by the surveyor A letter was received from the Hunterville Chamber of Commerce suggesting that the Otamakapua block be sub-divided into smaller areas, and it was resolved to advise them that this matter is now under consideration, and that the Laud Board will inspect at an early date. It was resolved to grant Mr C. Le F. Honore a license to take a waterrace for mill purposes through sections 1,2, 3,4, 5, block 16 , Horopito West Y.S., at a rent of £3 10s per annum, and to approve of his depositing sawdust in old watercourse near mill, provided the Commissioner is satisfied that it is causing no damage mere. The Kaitieke County _ County Council applied for a certificate of hypothecation of tho thirds derivable from sections 8, block 11., 1,3, 3 and 17, 19, block HI., 7, block VI. 7,8, block VII., Kaitieke, Oio Special Rating Area.—This was granted. " Tho Kaitieke Comity Council applied for a certificate of hypothecation of the thirds derivable from sections, block V., 2, block VII. 1, Mock IX., 37, 42, 43, 44, block X., 11, blocks XI, and XII.. 2,6, 7, block XIV., Kaitieke,_ and 2, block XI., Retaruke, Kaitieke Special Rating Area.—Granted. Kaitieke County Council submit schemes for expenditure of thirds, etc., accured to March 31st last. — Approved. SPECIAL RESOLUTION. In compliance with section 2 of the Public Bodies’ Leasing Powers Act, 1908, the following special resolution, passed at last meeting, was confirmed:—“lt was resolved to accept a surrender of J. Goodger’s lease of sections 119, 123, and 129, Raetihi Township, and issue a separate lease for each section _at the same rental, in terms of section 10 and 12 of the Public Bodies’ Leasing Powers Act, 1908.’’ It was resolved to approve of the appointment of Mr Wm. Vickers as substitute for residence on section 5, block XVI., Kaitieke, held by his wife, Mrs 1, C. Vickers.
