A Hawera telegram says that Mr Hornsby carried a recruiting mission to the Waverley racecourse yesterday and, wih the approval ot the officials, spoke ten minutes. The innovation was well received. The Presbytery of Wanganui met in Martou to-day to deal with a call from the congregation of Pending to the Rev. T. Millar, of Rangiora. Rev, A. Doull laid the call on the table signed by 99 members and 30 adherents. The stipend offered was £3OO with manse and one month’s holiday each year. Mr Williamson, Session Clerk, appeared as a representative from the cougregattion and spoke of the unanimity of the call. On the motion of Rev. E. Evans seconded by Rev J. Wilson, the call was sustained. Mr Miller’s induction was fixed for December 15th. Revs. Bredin, Doull and McKenzie were apppointed to conduct the services on the occasion.
