Replying to the Wine Associations deputation’s representations against the application of the proposed early closing to the sale of wine on the ground of its being detrimental to an important local industry, Mr. Homan promised sympathetic consideration. He was convinced that the time must come for dealing with wine distinct ■ from beer and spirits. He pointed out that the Government’s early closing legislation was strictly an emergency matter and only temporary. The Railway "Commissioner's annual report shows that theßrailway earnings decreased £50,709 and tramway £17,934, compared with the previous year.
