MARION ROSE SHOW.

The promoters of the show wereunfortunate in opening on a boisterous day, and the attendance wasvery meagre. On Saturday they were favoured with better weather, and the hall was crowded; Splendid business was done throughout theafternoon and evening. The items; by the children were heartily applauded, and thanks are due to Mrs E. Hutchins for the excellent manner in which she trained her liliputian performers. Mr E.. Hutchins made an ideal secretary, and he was ably seconded by Mrs Hutchins, and there is no- doubt that the success of the show wasgreatly due to their efforts; They wore assisted by the stallholders and workers, who worked together;very amicably. The following competitions-were-heldDecorated table (popularvote), Miss Whincoj> Ist and Miss R. Mogridge 2nd. Hat trimmed 1 with real flowers (popular vote), Miss R. Mogridge Ist and Mrs J: McGregor 2nd. The children acquitted themselveswith distinction in their items on each evening of the show. “The Flag Drill” was very prettily executed, and concluded with a-tableam in whion the children with their small flags, were grouped under a large Union Jack, and sang “RuleBrittania,” which was received with applause by the audience. Considering the rough state of the weather on Friday and counterattractions on Saturday, the resultsattained by the management of the show must be considered very satisfactory. On Saturday night the halli was crowded, and the stallholders and refreshment room were kept very busily engaged and did a thriving trade. The' soft drinks and sweets stalls were compelled to close on account of being sold out. Mrs Honeyman again Won the cup for most points, and thiscoveted prize becomes her own property. Mrs Honeyman has, However, generously donated it to* the society for further competition, the only condition made being that in the event of Mrs. Honeyman winning it again before it is won by any other competitor under the conditions Mrs Honeyman will retain it.

The proceeds from the auction sale to the Belgian fund netted £4 10s 6d. It is anticipated that"the profit from the show will be £SO, a fourth of which goes to the Belgian Fund, A number of prize winners have donated their prizes to the Belgian fund, which will bring the amount up to about £lB. The Marten Band and Marton Junction Baud rendered selections outside the hall on each evening;

The management desires to thank all those willing helpers who devoted their time to bring the show to such a successful result.
