Chaotic conditions continue in New York and the neighbouring States, Damage to property is estimated at millions of dollars. The afreets of the city are packed with ice ancbsnow, and traffic is held up. Some districts are isolated. Prospects of a thaw are regarded with apprehension, owing to the likelihood of an epidemic arising from the garbage lying in the streets.
