FISRT DAY. Per Press Association. Dannevirke, March 4. The Autumn Meeting of the Dannevirke R.O. opened to-day in line weather. There is-a large attendance and the course is in splendid order. , The new grandstand was declared opened by the President, Mr G. Hunter. Results:—

Maioen Plate, four furlongs.— Montano 1, Mystified 8, New York 3. Scratched: Holywell, Improve, Miss Lupin, Centra, Ngarua, Hadingo, Janitor, and Waimarino. Won hy a neck. Time, s(sseo. Tahoraite Hack Handicap, 7 furlongs,—Firing Line 1, Merry Jack 3, Combustion 3. Scratched; Aleoto, Armature, Otakura, and Silver Jingle. Won by a length. JJ Nursery Handicap, four furlongs. —Tavistock 1, Indigo 3, La Favouri*a 3. Scratched: Roumania Margeline, Oarloman, and Ladylike. Won by a neck. Time, sseo.
