LADIES' TOURNAMENT Per Press Association. Napier, September 12. The nineteenth championship tournay of the New Zealand Ladies' Golf Clnb opened at Waiohiki yesterday. The weather was beautifully fine in tbe early part of the day, but showers fell in the afternoon. Following are details of yesterday's scoring: Championship match, first heat:—Miss Bell. Wellington, beat Miss Denver, Poverty Bay, 4up and 2 to play; Miss Alison, Auckland, beat *Miss Sylvia Abraham, Manawatu, 4up and 3to play; Mrs Slack, Manawatu, beat Mrs Bidwill, Wellington, 2up and Ito play; Miss M. Gorrie, Auok land, beat Miss Harris, Hagley, 1 up; Mrs Ronald Orbell, North Otago, beat Mrs Bicknell, Grevtown, 2up and 1 to play; Miss W. Cottel, Auckland, beat Mrs Maitland Hastings, 1 up; Miss E. Robieson, Masterton, beat Mrs Gate, Hastings. 7up and 6 to play; Miss Cowper, Wanganui beat Miss Hartgill, Dannevirke, 2up and Ito play; Miss B Hindmarsh, Napier, beat Miss E. Baird, Hastings, 3 np and 2 to play. Heavy rain fell during the night but cleared this morning.
