THE GREAT McEWEN The Great McEwen will, on Monday night, September Bth, present his most wonderful entertainment at Marton Onera Honse. He will be asssisfced by Miss Florence Hartley,, prima donna ; Miss Grace Maynard, mentalist; Mr Will Bolton, artistic dancer; and Mr Cecil Long, A.L. C. M., L. L.C.M., soloist. Mr McEwen’s exhibition is billed as “Mirth and Mysticism.” He is a nephew of Professor Anderson, the “Wizard of the North,” and has spent the whole of his life in continuing and improving upon the extraordinary class of entertainment practised by the “Wizard” withwhom he was for several years associated. His speciality is hypnotism and telepathic suggestion, and the newspapers’ reports of t his world’s tonr declare that he is a pastmaster of his art. Mr McEwen brings a big reputation from America and Australia. Many of his feats in the mystic and marvellous are described as incredible, and it is said to be an open question whether the things that he does are really done or whether the belief in their accomplishment is due to hypnotic suggestion on a wholesale scale. Marton people will soon have an opportunity of judging for themselves on this point The Great McEwen Company is under the patronage of the Manawatu and West Coast 'Caledonian Society, Mr McEwen being a native of Scotland. The box plan is at Mogridge and Son’s.
