According to a letter from a trader in the New Hebrides an expedition from a French warship sent to Epi to punish the natives for the recent mnrder of a French planter, seized and bound the natives of three villages, raided their houses and confiscated property found therein The natives were kept aboard the warship till the actual murderers, who belonged to another village, were handed over. Only a portion of their property was returned.
